Red and blue writing is painted on a white gallery wall. It reads, “Fast cars belong to bad men who love good girls that do bad tings. One thousand horsepower. A Chevy engine in 1987. Ford Mustang. I am a kitten that purrs and you are my rottweiler. Just like the moment before I hit a line of coke. My heart beats in a regular tempo because I am used to feeling like I am going to die. You have taught me to fear nothing and I am ready. Your engine growls with arrogance and I am proud that I belong to you. The race begins as the flag drags down slicing the sky in half as thought it carries the weight of a past I no longer want to remember. The only stars are the headlights that light the path of destruction and death. It feels right for me to close my eyes at this moment and suddenly I realize that although you never tell me I know that you love me.”
