Derek Liddington is a Toronto artist whose work examines themes of mimicry, translation and appropriation. During his recent MFA studies, Liddington focused on the Vancouver school of conceptual art as material to be appropriated, mimicked and ultimately translated in his own art practice. His later works have focused on the “vampiric” aspects of art in relation to past and even contemporary practice of other artists.
